August 8, 2009, American Legion Post 142, San Luis, CO, will have the annual family outing at the Veteran’s Park in Fort Garland, CO (look for the Air Force T33A (Thunderbird) Jet Trainer on display on CR HH along Highway 160, 1/2 mile east of Fort Garland). The Legion invites everyone to please join us for this occasion.
There will also be two additional “Memorial Stones” installed next to the existing Memorial Stone. Additional names will be inscribed on these stones. Anyone interested in adding their names or the names of their family members who served from Costilla County, can do so at this time. All donations are welcome to defray the cost of adding the names. All names to be added to the memorial stones must be submitted to the American Legion Commander, Juan Trujillo, no later than April 30, 2009. Center. To provide information and discuss
planned high voltage power transmission line corridors from Comanche Substation,
south of Pueblo, to the new Calumet Substation, 6 miles north of Walsenburg, to
the San Luis Valley Substation, north of Alamosa. Estimated project cost
for the San Luis Valley-Calumet-Comanche Transmission Project is $180
million. Project benefits are to improve system reliability and increase
capacity for planned renewable energy development (wind, solar, geothermal, and
